Ingredients:

  • 4 firm pears, peeled

  • 3 cups water

  • 1 cup coconut milk

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 3-4 cardamom pods, lightly crushed

  • 1-inch piece of ginger, sliced

  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

Directions:

Prepare the poaching liquid: In a saucepan, combine water, coconut milk, maple syrup, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg. Bring to a gentle simmer.

Poach pears: Add pears, covering them with the liquid. Let simmer for 20-25 minutes until tender, turning halfway through.

Serve: Remove pears, drizzle with the chai-spiced liquid, and enjoy warm or chilled.
