The start of a new calendar year is often a time for reevaluating our routines and setting goals, particularly as it comes on the heels of the (well-deserved) indulgences of the holiday season. It’s all well and good to make plans for a fresh start and a reset if you feel motivated to do so, but implementing too many changes at once, in the depth of winter, might not be a recipe for long-term success. Instead, consider a seasonal approach, aligning shifts in your routines with the cycles of nature.
Supporting local, sustainable farms is a principle we share with this month’s featured Meet the Maker, Desiree Lyver, founder of Hornby Island Tea. She wanted to start a business that would support practices that were good for both our planet and our bodies, and crafting herbal tea blends with local herbs fit this model perfectly. Hornby Island teas are blended in Fanny Bay on Vancouver Island with locally-grown herbs from Hornby Island, along with tea carefully selected from sustainably sourced family-run farms in India and South Africa for unique flavour profiles with health benefits.

These blends aren't just delicious; they also offer a harmonious experience, leaving you relaxed, energized, and in balance, all without the downsides of caffeine.
Step outside on a crisp autumn or winter day, and you can practically feel the moisture leaving your skin. As the days grow colder and the air becomes drier, you may notice patches of flakiness, along with redness, dullness, and even breakouts. While we love getting warm and cozy indoors, the constant shifts between chilly outdoor air and heated indoor spaces can wreak havoc on our skin.
