I started Bush Berry Tea with a deep love for plants, a background in horticulture and herbalism, and a dream of sharing high-quality, sustainably sourced tea with the world. What began as a small passion project quickly grew into a full-time business, allowing me to craft bold, organic blends using whole ingredients—no artificial flavors, just pure, delicious tea. Based in the mountains of BC, we partner with small, family-run farms and focus on compostable packaging to keep things as kind to the planet as they are to your cup. Every blend tells a story, whether it’s a cozy classic or a wild new favorite. My goal? To make drinking tea an experience—one that’s fresh, flavourful, and full of heart.

Getting from an idea to a small business is a lot of work! When did it first sink in for you that ‘this is really happening’?
For me, the moment came when I realized I could build a life around both my passion and my family. I had my dream job as a head grower for a large greenhouse, but after becoming a mom, balancing the long hours and intense workload just wasn’t sustainable. Leaving that career was tough, but I wasn’t ready to give up doing something I loved. So, I took a leap of faith and set up a table at my first farmers’ market. I made $100 that day—not a fortune, but enough to make me think, “Maybe I can actually do this.” That little spark turned into something bigger, and suddenly, I was running a business that let me stay home with my kids while creating something I was truly passionate about. That’s when it really sank in—this was more than a side project. This was my future.

Out of all your products, which is your personal favourite and why?
Hands down, my favourite is Inflow. It was the first tea I ever blended, and it wasn’t just about flavour—it was about function. A close friend of mine struggled with intense menstrual cramps, and I wanted to create something that could truly help. I carefully selected each herb for its soothing, balancing, and anti-inflammatory properties, and when she told me it made a real difference, I was so proud. That was the moment I realized the power of herbal tea—it’s more than just a cozy drink; it can be a tool for wellness. Inflow will always have a special place in my heart because it was the first time I saw what I could do with my knowledge and passion for plants. Plus, it’s delicious!

What motivates you on a day-to-day basis?
My biggest motivation? My family. My three kids (5, 8, and 10) are at the heart of everything I do. They inspire me to build something meaningful, to show them what passion and hard work look like, and to create a life where we can spend more time together. Running my own business means I can be there for the little moments—school drop-offs, afternoon adventures, and bedtime stories—while also doing something I love. It’s not always easy juggling it all, but knowing I’m creating something that supports my family and sets an example for my kids keeps me going every single day.

What’s your favourite thing about the town or city you live in?
We moved to Nakusp, this sleepy little mountain town about five years ago, and it was the best decision we ever made. It’s a place where time slows down—where the white sand beach, towering mountains, and endless forests feel like an escape from the hustle of city life. Coming from a busier place, we were craving more balance, and here, we found it. Life feels simpler, calmer, and more intentional. But the best part? More family time. Whether it’s lake days in the summer or cozy winters by the fire, we get to soak up every moment together.

Describe your ideal Sunday morning, including your breakfast.
Sunday mornings are all about slowing down. No alarms, no rush—just a big, family-style breakfast with pancakes, eggs, and way too much maple syrup. The kids are usually running around, music’s playing, and it’s one of those simple, happy moments. After breakfast, I love sneaking in some quiet time with a good book and a Lavender Earl London Fog—creamy, cozy, and just the right amount of floral. It’s the perfect way to recharge before the week kicks off again.
