Nanaimo's Produce Report for October + Pink Pumpkin Contest!

Local Nanaimo growers did not disappoint! A big thank to the farmers who joined us for Organic Week at the end of September! It was a great day to share the bounty and learn about local growing from Mitsy, Cathy, Sigrid, Wendy and Darby. Mitsy's kale is still coming in strong, Sigrid's squash and pink pumpkins are abundant and delicious hazelnuts from Wendy and Darby are in-store. We're excited to welcome fresh produce from another great local food producer - Nanoose Edibles - in the coming weeks.

Pink Pumpkins & Carving Contest

Speaking of pumpkins, we are selling McNab's Pink Pumpkins this month in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. All proceeds support Rethink Breast Cancer, a Canadian charity focused on breast cancer prevention through lifestyle and healthy habits. Not just a pretty pumpkin, these gourds are superbly delicious too!

We're holding a Pink Pumpkin Carving Contest this October! Pick up your pink pumpkin in-store and email alw@pommenaturalmarket.com a picture of your jack-o'-lantern or carved pumpkin and the staff will choose the best one on Halloween! The winner gets a gift basket!!!
