What do you get when you blend together the ethos of an ethical, earth-friendly, heart-centred business with all-natural, high-quality ingredients and a generous dose of creativity, fun, and rebel spirit? You get the revolutionary success story of Routine! Founded by sisters-in-law Neige and Pippa back in 2012 in Calgary, Routine has grown over the years thanks to their wildly popular, beautiful and effective products, a loyal fanbase, and an ever-evolving range of naturally scented deodorants, body, and hair care products.

Share your story with us in 150 words or less.
In the Wild West, with nary a natural deodorant that worked & where conventional left us smelling much worse than nothing at all, us sisters were dabbling in alchemy and other hippy sh*t and know, this was pre-google on your phone (‘twas landline and a VCR) times. We took it to the library (public) and R&D lab (kitchen) to pour our lil’ hearts into making it better. In a reverie of beautiful botanic scents & the most purposeful, effective ingredients that nature offered, Routine was born and the baby was magnificent.
Out of all your products, which is your personal favourite and why?
Our personal faves would have to include our bread and butter product: the OG deodorant jar! For Pippa, she is loving the sweet and botanical A Girl Named Sue and Neige is always partial to Reuben & The Desert with its deep, smoky notes.
Another product of ours that we think deserves so much love is the Botanic Body Serum. Particularly “The Class” scent. The base of The Class is made with our Night Serum and can be used all over your body after a bath and in the bath or as a conductor for any kind of face tool.
The Class serum is also what overnight hair magic is made of. Neige’s hot tip: Braid your hair before bed, emulsify 2-3 pumps of Botanic Body Serum in your hands and apply over the braids. Clip the braids at the top of your head overnight to protect your linens, give it a good cleansing wash in the morning, for your longest, silkiest hair yet.
What motivates you on a day-to-day basis?
Our families! Neige’s oldest daughter Soleil works with us as our Social Media Coordinator and Videographer, and our daughters (we both have two) are always giving us inspiration and the drive to abc (always be creating)! We want to pass on a world we’re proud of to them.
Pippa also is motivated by a top-notch spreadsheet while Neige is motivated by a really good outfit.
What’s your favourite thing about the town or city you live in?
The best thing about our neighbourhood in the Canadian Rockies is the proximity to our family ranch, the nature that surrounds us, and the places, spaces and people that we call home. The Calgary creative community is so special and inclusive.
Describe your ideal Sunday morning, including your breakfast.
An ideal Sunday morning would be waking up to the sun and the sound of the river at the Routine ranch. Lemon water, Athletic Greens, Magic Mind, and then coffee (in that order) followed by doing The Class livestream workout together, finishing off with a sauna then cold plunge in the river! Perfection!
What are your personal top three tips for feeling amazing?
Have good hair! Nothing sets you up for a good day quite like a good hair day (thanks to Routine Shampoo and Conditioner, of course!).
Move your body and shift your energy when needed. We love to do The Class by Taryn Toomey.
A good playlist, always. If you don’t like the vibe, cultivate a new one with the right music!
